Artist: Solid Entity
Album: Worth The Weight
Label: Red Potion Records
Year: 2001
Two emcees by the names of Psychlone and Rekks make up the group Solid Entity. Worth The Weight is their first
release even though they've been together for over 12 years. While the duo are able to fill the album with
well-written lyrics, the production is in need of some fine-tuning.
The production on tracks like "Door To Darkness," "Rockin The Headboard," and "Mic Surgery" are too simplistic
and take away from the lyrics. That said, producer Rekks does offer up a few well-produced tracks like the title
track "Worth The Weight" and "Crazy In The Clutch."
"Worth The Weight" is the album's best song. It is about the early years of the group and how they met at
university. They also talk about what they have gone throughout their career. On "Carpool Tunnel Syndrome" the
duo talk about road rage.
This album is good first effort for these two emcees. My only complaint is with the production as I have no problem
with the lyrical ability of Psychlone or Rekks. If the production can be improved upon for album number two, it will
be a very good album.
